Dose of the Day
History: uncountable, more factual, non-fiction, academic, it really happened.
Story: countable, imaginary, fiction, narrative, it often didn’t really happen.
Exemples of history:
- Man walked on the moon (yes, it really happened)
- Slavery was abolished in Brazil
- Lula was Prender
Exemples of story:
- I read a story in the paper about that plane that colidiram (true story)
- He told a story about his fishing trip (maybe true, maybe not, maybe partly true)
- Romeo and Juliet (sorry girls, never happened)
History is uncountable; Story is countable
Então você nunca pode dizer: A history. Usou artigo = story. This is a true story, of how Brazil lost to Germany, the worst defeat in their history.
